Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 is turning out to be one of the biggest theatrical successes of 2026. The action entertainer has delivered a powerful opening weekend, crossing the ₹400 crore mark worldwide in just four days and now moving closer to the massive ₹500 crore milestone.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the sequel brings back Rajinikanth as the much-loved Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. Strong audience response, impressive occupancy and a significant overseas contribution have helped the film maintain its momentum since its release on October 15.

Jailer 2 Day 4 Box Office Collection

According to figures reported by NDTV, Jailer 2 earned approximately ₹55.85 crore net in India on Day 4, taking its total India net collection to ₹199.90 crore.

The film’s India gross collection currently stands at around ₹234.25 crore. Its worldwide gross, including international markets, has reached approximately ₹424.25 crore after four days.

Sunday proved particularly important for the film. Its Day 4 India collection increased by around 18.2% compared with Saturday, when the film had earned ₹47.25 crore net.

Jailer 2 Day-Wise India Net Collection

  • Day 1: ₹59.70 crore
  • Day 2: ₹37.10 crore
  • Day 3: ₹47.25 crore
  • Day 4: ₹55.85 crore
  • Total after four days: ₹199.90 crore net

The numbers show an interesting trend. After a drop on the second day, the film recovered strongly over the weekend, with Saturday and Sunday bringing a noticeable increase in audience turnout.

₹500 Crore Worldwide Target Now in Sight

With a worldwide gross of approximately ₹424.25 crore, Jailer 2 is now around ₹75.75 crore away from crossing the ₹500 crore mark.

The film’s overseas performance has been a major contributor to this run. It reportedly collected around ₹40 crore overseas on Day 4, taking its cumulative overseas gross to approximately ₹190 crore.

Combined with its India gross of ₹234.25 crore, the worldwide total reaches ₹424.25 crore.

If the film maintains its current momentum, the ₹500 crore worldwide milestone could become an achievable target during its theatrical run.

Tamil Version Leads the Box Office

The Tamil version continues to be the biggest contributor to Jailer 2‘s domestic performance.

On Sunday, the Tamil version collected approximately ₹39.95 crore net from 8,173 shows and recorded around 80% occupancy.

The Telugu version contributed approximately ₹9.50 crore, while the Hindi version collected around ₹5.75 crore. The Kannada version added approximately ₹65 lakh.

The strong Tamil occupancy is particularly notable, with evening and night shows recording especially high audience turnout.

The performance highlights the continued strength of Rajinikanth’s popularity in the Tamil market while also demonstrating the film’s ability to attract audiences across multiple language versions.

More Than 1.3 Crore Theatre Visits

Another major indicator of the film’s popularity is its footfall.

Jailer 2 reportedly recorded more than 36.87 lakh theatre visits on Day 4 alone, taking its total footfalls during the first four days to more than 1.30 crore.

Such numbers demonstrate that the film is not simply benefiting from high ticket prices or premium screenings. A substantial number of moviegoers are actually turning up at theatres to watch Rajinikanth’s latest action spectacle.

Rajinikanth’s Star Power Continues

At the centre of the film’s success is, once again, Rajinikanth.

The veteran superstar returns as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, the character introduced in the first Jailer. The combination of Rajinikanth’s screen presence, Nelson Dilipkumar’s direction and the franchise’s established audience has created considerable anticipation around the sequel.

The cast also includes S.J. Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Ramya Krishnan, Vidya Balan and Yogi Babu. The film additionally features special appearances by Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar and Jackie Shroff, adding to its star appeal.

The sequel’s performance also places it among the major Tamil box-office stories of 2026. Reports indicate that it has already moved ahead of several other major Tamil releases of the year.

Can Jailer 2 Cross ₹500 Crore?

The next major milestone for Jailer 2 is clear: ₹500 crore worldwide.

At ₹424.25 crore after four days, the film has already established a strong foundation. Its Sunday growth, high Tamil occupancy and significant overseas business are positive indicators for its continued theatrical run.

However, box-office performance can change from day to day, particularly once the initial weekend period ends and new releases enter the market. The ₹500 crore target is therefore within sight, but the film will need to maintain healthy collections in the coming days.

For now, though, Jailer 2 has given Rajinikanth fans plenty to celebrate.

The film has crossed ₹400 crore worldwide in just four days, approached the ₹200 crore India net milestone and established itself as one of the year’s biggest Tamil cinema successes.

And with ₹500 crore now firmly in its sights, the Tiger Muthuvel Pandian phenomenon shows no signs of slowing down.
